I started out shooting with a Hitachi Super 8 camcorder which worked well, but required A/D conversion to edit on a computer. So I got a Canon GL-1 mini-DV cam to make transferring video easier at higher quality. It's a 3 CCD unit that produces great quality video, and the audio sounds good too. Having the right cables in the bag is most useful for dubbing video from other shooters, and makes it possible to just to watch your own flights with your eyeballs. Assuming that is, that the other guys will give up their footage! Luckily so far that's not been a problem:)))

Taking a cue from the Gates Brothers, I bought a few smaller mini-DV cams to mount inside some of the airframes, to augment the ATV capability Bill Schworer and I worked out for early 2 stage flights. On-board video is most definitely cool.
